For Our Clients

Are We Right For You?

We are available to see you quickly for a wide ranage of short-term needs. If you're in need of someone to listen, information, resources, clarity, or other support, we are here for you. If you are unsure whether your situation falls within our scope, please feel free to contact us. We will attempt to guide you toward the right resources.

*Call or text 604-366-3331 for a free 10-minute consultation to inquire. Messages will be responded to within 24 hours.

  • Can I talk to someone quickly?

Yes, you can reach us quickly. If you call or text, we will get back to you within 24-hours (usually sooner). We have appointments available within 48-hours, but can typically meet the same day if you need a same-day appointment.

  • If I book an appointment, who will I talk with?

At Seal Psych Consult you will see Dr. Brooke Seal, a Registered Psychologist (#2564) with a PhD in Clinical Psychology. Dr. Seal completed her undergraduate degree at UBC, her MA and PhD at The University of Texas at Austin, a 1-year residency with Vancouver Coastal Health, and a 1-year post-doctoral program with the DBT Centre of Vancouver. She has extensive training in CBT and DBT from some of the world's experts. She is also a tenured Associate Professor of Psychology and has been teaching university undergraduate courses for over 16 years.

  • What are the fees?

Sessions are billed at a rate of $250 per 50 minutes or $145 for 30 minutes. Direct billing is not provided, though many health plans offer partial or full coverage for psychological services. We offer a free 10-minute phone consultation if you have questions about whether our service is a fit for you or if you have a quick question about resources. We also offer free brief consultations for medical offices.

  • What ages do you work with?

We provide support for adults aged 19+. We do not see children or teenagers/adolescents at this time, although we do provide support for parents.

  • How many sessions will I have?

Seal Psych Consult provides short-term services only. Research shows that short-term, timely services are helpful. Clients typically find answers and support they need with 1-3 sessions through our services. Since we do not enter into long-term therapeutic relationships with our clients, we recommend a maximum of 3 consultation sessions per presenting concern. If you are accessing our services while your regular care provider is away (e.g., on vacation), we are happy to provide you with short-term services during each of those periods.

  • Are you a crisis service?

While we are trained in crisis management, we are not a crisis service. We do not provide services for people involved in an active crisis situation that may need immediate, urgent care including being actively suicidal or having recently engaged in self-harm. For urgent matters, please call 911 or go to the nearest hospital emergency room.

  • Do I have to live in B.C. to access your services?

Yes, we only work with current residents of B.C. This is due to our professional guidelines under the College of Health and Care Professionals of B.C.
